Apia, Samoa – The Pacific’s newest media organisation has established its interim website, which became active yesterday.
The Pasifika Media Association (PasiMA) site can be found at www.pacific-media.org <http://www.pacific-media.org>
The new site contains information about the association, including membership fees and criteria – including a special offer for those who join early.
The site also has the PasiMA constitution, mission statement, office bearers and a selection of published articles on the association, its aims and origins.
There is also a message of welcome from PasiMA chairman and International Press Institute World Press Freedom Hero Savea Sano Malifa.
“It’s another step forward for PasiMA,” said Savea yesterday.
“Eventually we’ll have a vastly expanded Internet presence complete with a comprehensive regional news service. We have commenced the planning phase for these expansions, which should become available in the early part of 2011. We are grateful to the American Embassy in Apia for their seed money in support of our web and news service development.”
Meanwhile, he said, the existing website ably explains who and what PasiMA is and all it stands for.
He urged all of those eligible to join and contribute to the future of the media and media freedom in the Pacific region.
